Fireplaces and Stoves - Replacing

Replacing a fireplace or stove makes a lot of people nervous. We make it look easy. Sometimes the shortest path, and the one with the most value, is starting over. Many spec homes are built with a price in mind that requires the builder to choose a fireplace that you wouldn't have. We fix that. We can turn your fireplace into the focal point that you want it to be.

Of course, changing out an old, inefficient wood stove with another wood stove can be easy (except for the weight.) We can take out a gas fireplace and put in a wood fireplace, or vice-versa. We can take out a stove and install a fireplace, complete with chase, surround, stone, mantel and more. We excel at tackling jobs that are too small for a general contractor, but too large for an ordinary fireplace shop.

If you have an older gas fireplace that looks more like a row of lighters behind a round, log-shaped peice of concrete, we can update it with a new gas fireplace that will make your friends wonder if you are burning real wood. We can even remove a smelly vent-free fireplace and install a highly efficient - and air tight sealed - direct-vent firplace.

No matter what your perfect idea of a fireplace is, we can help you create it.

Things to consider when thinking about changing a fireplace -

- The hardest part of going from wood to gas is getting the gas line to the appliance without you seeing it. We are VERY good at this.

- Your existing chimney has a VERY low chance of being reused. (You can't put the exhaust from a Cavalier on a Silverado, even though they are the same brand.)

- Now is the time to make the entire wall the way you want it. It will never be easier or cheaper later.

- Going from gas to wood typically requires a larger chimney that can require extra effort to route through the roof, but it can nearly always be done.
